The elderly sensitive skin can get some serious damage from chlorinated water, and all the public swimming pools and hot showers are highly chlorinated. This is the reason why it is not recommended for elderly people to swim in public swimming pools. You can enjoy summer in other ways too, ditch swimming from now on for the sake of your skin.
