Mind Body Healing - Heal Yourself with Hypnosis

It now been confirmed what has been known for years by hypnotherapists, that the mind can heal the body.

It was 35 years ago that Harvard medical doctor, Herbert Benson, M.D. wrote the “Relaxation Response.” It was groundbreaking at the time and explained his research that relaxation techniques could have huge benefits for the body, from lowered blood pressure to a reduction in heart disease.

And now, Dr Benson’s latest book has just been published. It’s called, “Relaxation Revolution: Enhancing Your Personal Health Through the Science and Genetics of Mind Body Healing” and explains all the latest research about mind-body healing.

The book explains his research at the Harvard Medical School and explains how relaxation can switch on or switch off gene activity associated with a disease. I quote from the book description, “They have explored how the relaxation response, the power of expectation and belief, and other mind-body phenomena can produce healing in your own body. A new era has dawned. Genetic research now shows conclusively that the mind can influence the body down to the genetic level. Your mind has the ability to change the way your body and your genes function.”

There you have it, from the Harvard Medical School, that the mind can change the body.

Here are the conditions that these new book claims are amenable to mind-body healing:

  1. high blood pressure
  2. anxiety
  3. depression
  4. infertility
  5. insomnia
  6. menopausal hot flashes
  7. many pains, including backaches and headaches
  8. phobias

We in the hypnosis field are glad to see that the scientific medical research is finally catching up to what we have known for a long time.

As a hypnotherapist, I am not a medical doctor and I can not advise you medically. If you have a condition that you think could be helped with hypnosis, first consult with your doctor. Tell him you want to use hypnosis to treat the condition. If he says it’s OK, then he can write a referral just as if he were writing a referral to a physical therapist. Then call me and begin your healing journey.
