Conversational Hypnosis Revealed
Conversational hypnosis is actually a three-step process. Establishing a rapport with the person to be hypnotized is the first step. As you develop the rapport, the subject will feel comfortable and be at ease with you. It is a trust building exercise as well. This exercise is important because the person to be hypnotized has to become receptive to your suggestions.
In the second stage, you have to focus on bringing in a mild confusion into the conversation that you are developing. This is a little tricky. For example, if the subject is discussing an incident in which a common friend was involved, you can interrupt and narrate the whole incident as if it happened in a different way.
Do not carry it too far. Accept what the subject said initially when he/she tries to correct you and act as though you were agreeing with him from the beginning. This puts the subject in a state of confusion. The subject will be vulnerable and open to suggestions then, as he/she will want to clear the confusion at the earliest.
Planting your suggestion is the last stage in the three-step indirect verbal hypnosis process. You have to cleverly place your suggestion when the subject is still in a confused state of mind. Timing is very important. For example, if you are in conversation with your boss and you directly ask for a raise in salary, it may work against you. Conversational hypnosis is effective, but it does not work for everyone.
You will get good at conversational hypnosis when you do it a number of times. You have to learn to understand the subject before applying the process. People are different and so, you have to deal with them differently.
